Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop is proud to announce the opening of the 2018 Scholarship Program!
Following a competitive process with many high-quality applicants with intriguing essays, three students will be chosen as the recipients of the 2018 scholarships. With the support of Baen Books and Rob & Ruann Hampson, TVIW will award these deserving students, two undergraduate scholarships and one graduate scholarship, on a merit-basis in the amount of $2500 per recipient. These scholarships are merit-based, and require applicants to complete an essay with their application forms. The deadline for all applications is May 15.
Applicants for the undergraduate scholarships must be high school seniors in the southeast United States (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina Tennessee, or Virginia). They must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in a STEM related field. Applicants for the graduate scholarship mush be accepted to or enrolled full time in an accredited college or university program that awards graduate degrees, majoring in a STEM related field.
“The Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop was created to foster and assist the study, research and experimentation necessary to make human interstellar travel a reality, with untold benefits to life on Earth,” said TVIW President Emeritus John Preston. “We can imagine no better way to demonstrate that goal than the creation of these scholarships, helping new generations of thinkers, builders and explorers to set their sights on the stars.”
